Screen Shot 2013-03-19 at 12.39.09 PM.png1. Read Chapters 4 and 5.
2. Make you you have a good understanding of copyright, this is important as a teacher.
3. And as Wesley states in his Summary of Chapter 5 Images.
"I hope the ideas and resources included in this chapter have inspired you to “play with images” in new ways. We must embrace the challenges as well as opportunities for CREATING with images in the classroom if we are to effectively prepare our students for the world of TODAY and tomorrow. We live in a media-drenched society, but many people do not actively practice critical thinking skills in response to the media messages which surround us. By making the shift from mere “media consumers” to “media pro-sumers” and content creators, we and our students can develop media literacy skills we not only need to be effective learners but also contributing citizens in our communities, states and nations."
4. I am going to make the assumption that you will use the resources Wesley mentions in all future projects.
5. In Edmodo, Reflect on what you learned in Chapters 4 & 5 and which tools you see being useful and why. Be specific and details. Your entry should reflect scholarly thought and writing.
Due by Friday, April 5

In past semesters, we have done a project using Voicethread http://voicethread.com/, which is discussed in Chapter 5, so I encourage you to check Voicethreadout. It is a wonderful too. It even has an iPad App

But, I just discovered a new tool, Meograph which is amazing. So, we are going to give Meograph a try. They don't have an iPad app yet, but seems to sort of work on the iPad, kinda tricky though. I have emailed Meograph and they are working on a native app for the iPad.

Screen Shot 2013-03-25 at 12.17.08 PM.pngMeograph does mention that it is optimized for Google Chrome and we did discover on my 10:30 class that they were serious, it works better in Google Chrome. The Macs from the cart all have Google Chrome installed.

To install FREE Google Chrome browser on your personal computer:

Meograph may also work better using the Chrome App.

  • Find a partner in your content area, or your table can be a team.
  • Choose a topic you will have will have to teach, you and you partner will make a Meograph to introduce that unit or topic or idea or concept.
  • Following the instructions above, make a Meograph project and post it to your website.
  • How long should the project be, not sure, it depends on your topic pf course, but I would think not less than 5 images and likely more. More sure it ic complete and you tell the entire story!
  • Yes, you must have your voice on the project, photos and even video.
  • Plan you project and script your narration.
  • Lastly, add a reflection to the Meograph post about this tool, what you liked, how you see yourself using it, include 3 ideas with brief descriptions of how you could use this tool with students in your classroom.
  • Now from your 3 ideas, choose one and make a second Meograph individually and add to the same post.
  • Title the post: Meograph, Four Dimensional Storytelling

What we did Week 9 and things to complete for Week 10
1. Add your Week 9 Reflection from the Blog List on Week 1.
2. Read Chapter 4 & 5 and complete the Reflection in Edmodo.
3. Complete the Meograph project with your partner and add to your website.
4. Complete the individual Meograph project and add to your website.
5. We will do a second Website peer check in class during Week 10. Make sure you have everything completed through Week 9 for the Peer Critique.
6. Guest Speaker from Week 8 before Spring Break. The presentation was taped, but is too large to post on the web. There is a CD in the Catalyst that may be watched and you reflection may be written for that. Note: you will have to watch the CD on a computer in the Catalyst. The 10:30 class and a few others who attended should already have your reflection completed.
OROR....You may do 2 additional reflections to replace the Guest Speaker reflection. One must be from my Blog, Technology Bits, Bytes & Nibbles and the other from a Blog you find on my Blogging in Education Pinterest Board.
Title : Reflection Technology its, Bytes & NibblesTitle: Reflection: Use the title of the blog you are reviewing.

7. I am assuming no one has read the document on Week 8, so make sure you go back to Week 8 and read the Digital Storytelling/Celebrate Kansas Voices (CKV) Assigment Information. The CKV assignment is due on your Website Week 14, but will take some prep and work to complete and cannot be done quickly. It requires some thought and research. I will answer questions about the CKV assignment Week 10 in class. But please read the document first.
